Psyche revived by Cupid’s kiss

Crafted in 1793, Antonio Canova decided to create a sculpture depicting the moment Cupid revived the mortal Psyche from a coma-like sleep with his kiss.

When Cupid falls in love with Psyche himself, she is ordered by Venus to complete a series of tasks. After she completes these tasks Venus awards he with immortality and permanent love of cupid.

The famous Greek myth of Psyche and Cupid starts when Cupid, the god of love, falls for a mortal girl. The mortal girl is the daughter of Venus, goddess of love. cupid and Psyche’s new love interest sparks jealousy within her mother. her mother then orders Cupid to make her fall in love with a monster.
